Introducing the All-New 2023 Honda CR-V

Our team is excited to share the details of the All-New CR-V, a sporty, rugged crossover SUV, modernized with an updated and sophisticated design.

This new sixth generation CR-V is even more refined and builds on Honda’s new design direction.

With the introduction of this new vehicle, we are pleased to take you through some of the CR-V’s updated design, suite of available technology, performance capabilities, as well as the multiple safety features of this remarkable new vehicle.

The 2023 CR-V models are offered in a total of four available trim levels: LX, Sport, EX-L, and the first ever Touring Hybrid

The LX, Sport and EX-L models are powered by an updated 1.5-litre turbo engine with additional refinement, improved emissions, performance and 190 horsepower (SAE net at 6,000 rpm).

Enhancements include a new high-efficiency, high-response turbocharger and 4-2 exhaust port cylinder head that helps the 4-cylinder engine maintain peak power over a broader range of rpms. The Engine noise has also been reduced significantly for a much calmer, quieter cabin.

Available for the first time in Canada, the CR-V Hybrid Touring features an all-new two-motor hybrid-electric system with a newly refined 2.0-litre Atkinson cycle 4-cylinder engine, mated to a pair of electric motors that are now mounted side-by-side. The all-new CR-V Touring debuts with a new, more advanced 4th-generation hybrid-electric system for a fuel-efficient, sporty and more capable driving experience.

Proudly, the sixth-generation CR-V will continue to be built in Canada, at Honda of Canada Mfg., which has been designated as the lead manufacturing plant for the CR-V in North America.

The Honda CRV is all new for the 2023 model year

All-New Design for 2023

Beginning with the exterior, the 2023 design is best described as rugged and sophisticated. The Sport and Touring models offer a bolder look. This look is derived by further advancing Honda's rugged exterior design direction for its light trucks, taking inspiration from the recently redesigned Honda Ridgeline and Honda Passport TrailSport models.

A strong horizontal beltline highlights the increase in overall length (+68.6 mm longer), while a 40.6 mm longer wheelbase and 10.1 mm of additional width give it a stronger, more aggressive stance and presence.

The sportier proportions begin with the repositioning of the windshield’s pillars which greatly improves visibility. New door-mounted side mirrors aide in greater outward visibility.

Emphasizing the strong new styling is a large, upright grille, a long hood and standard LED headlights. LX and EX-L feature a piano black grille mesh with chrome trim and body-colour side mirrors with integrated turn signals. A sleek roof spoiler in matching body-colour and new, all-LED signature vertical taillights make this sixth generation CR-V instantly recognizable from the rear.

The Sport model and Touring Hybrid model feature even bolder styling. Aggressive front and rear facias and grille mesh are highlighted with a gloss black accent, and Sport and Touring models have trims with unique rectangular exhaust finishers. The unique lower bumper design is piano black on Sport and platinum on Touring models.

The CR-V Sport rides on Berlina Black 18-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels, while the Touring model features 19-inch split 5-spoke machine-finish alloys.

Moving to the interior, the All-New CR-V sports a clean, high-quality feel of materials along with upscale touches. This modern interior is predicated on the new Honda design direction. This new generation CR-V is both more comfortable and spacious than any past generation. Notably, a larger front-to-rear-seat distance and more rear seat legroom, by 15.2 mm. The rear seats now feature eight angles of recline, for increased comfort.

Presenting in front of the driver, the instrument panel, which has been designed with minimal cutlines to reduce windshield reflections and other visual distractions. The striking metal honeycomb mesh that spans the dash serves as both form and function, concealing the air vents that would otherwise mar an uncluttered and harmonious design.

The new front seats offer body stabilizing attributes that also help reduce fatigue over long drives. The steering wheel angle is more sedan-like, for a more comfortable and sportier driving position.

When it comes to cargo, the new CR-V has you covered! The 2023 CR-V has the most cargo room in the model's history with a whopping 1028 L available behind the rear seats (+34 L).

With the LX, EX-L and Sport trims, the rear load floor can be lowered, expanding the cargo space to 1112.8 L. The 60/40-split rear seatbacks fold flat, which expands the cargo space even more.

The Touring comes with available black leather seating surfaces and piano-black dash trim. Touring models come standard with a black headliner and orange contrast stitching on the seats (black leather), console, steering wheel and shifter for a modern and sophisticated look.

For 2023, the CR-V is not only more powerful, but it’s even more capable as a Hybrid model, which is the standard powerplant on the Touring trim-level.

Available for the first time in Canada, the CR-V Hybrid Touring features an all-new two-motor hybrid-electric system with a newly refined 2.0-litre Atkinson cycle 4-cylinder engine mated to a pair of electric motors that are now mounted side-by-side. Combined system output has increased to 204 horsepower, while the traction-motor peak torque rises to 247 lb.-ft. of torque, making the 2023 CR-V Hybrid Touring the most powerful CR-V ever.

Every gas-only powered CR-V trim boasts a 1.5-litre, 16-valve, Direct Injection, DOHC, turbocharged VTEC® 4-cylinder engine that produces 190 horsepower and 179 lb.-ft of torque. While the continuously variable transmission (CVT) offers a wide ratio range for a more fuel-efficient, natural-feeling drive.

The continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) for the 1.5-litre turbo has been updated to reduce noise and vibration. Significant drivability and performance improvements include Step-Shift programming, which simulates familiar gear changes when at full throttle.

An updated Real Time AWD with Intelligent Control System™ greatly improves traction management in slippery conditions, like snow and mud. Available on LX, and standard on Sport, EX-L, and Touring, the system can now send up to 50 percent of engine torque to the rear wheels.

For the first time, the CR-V features Hill Descent Control. This system is now standard right across the entire CR-V lineup. This system increases off-road capability with more control on steep, slippery declines. Drivers now have the ability to select speeds between 3 and 20 km/h.

2023 Honda CRV Safety Features include Honda Sensing

The All-New CR-V features Honda’s latest version of its Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) architecture, specifically designed to meet present and anticipated future collision standards, while minimizing additional weight. Extensive use of lightweight materials, such as aluminum and high-strength steel help in this effort. For the first time, CR-V features standard knee and rear-passenger side impact airbags.

CR-V now features a Driver Attention Monitor, which issues a warning on the dash when it senses the driver is becoming inattentive. Standard Rear Seatbelt Reminder and Rear Seat Reminder are new to CR-V; the latter notifies drivers to check the rear seating area for children, pets or other precious cargo when exiting the vehicle. With CR-V, Honda has you covered!

Honda Sensing® Technologies

A new Honda Sensing® suite of safety and driver assistive technologies integrates a new wide-angle camera with millimetre-wave radar. This new camera features a 90-degree field of view, while the radar has a 120-degree field of view. This wide angle improves collision prevention performance through an improved ability to recognize attributes of objects, such as vehicles or pedestrians, as well as white lines, road boundaries (like curbs), other vehicles, pedestrians, bicyclists, motorcycles, and road signs. The wide angle also enables expanded control range for CR-V at intersections.
