The previously postponed Canadian value chain investment project has been indefinitely suspended. This decision does not affect current employment or production levels at our existing manufacturing facility in Alliston, Ontario, where operations continue to meet strong demand for Honda Civic and CR-V models. Despite evolving business conditions, Honda’s flexible manufacturing approach remains an industry hallmark, supporting 40 years of continuous Canadian production and the future of our Alliston, Ontario facility.

Key Context and Considerations:

• Honda announced an indefinite suspension of the Canadian value chain investment project in response to evolving business conditions, a change in external resource strategy and shifting customer demand.
• Based on our revised strategic objectives, we have determined that an indefinite suspension of the value chain project is appropriate at this stage. We will continue reviewing our future procurement and business strategies, while carefully monitoring market conditions.
• The new EV plant had the potential to create 1,000 incremental manufacturing jobs in Alliston, ON. The decision to suspend the project indefinitely does not impact existing HCM employment levels, nor current production.
• While the investment project received a future funding commitment from both provincial and federal governments, no funds have been transferred to Honda as a result of that commitment.
• Current Canadian operations continue to support today’s strong market demand for Honda products.
  • In 2025, Honda built approximately 400,000 vehicles in Canada:
    • Approximately 198,000 Civic units were produced
    • Approximately 202,000 CR-V units were produced
  • All Civic sedans and CR-V units sold in Canada are built in Canada. More than 60% were hybrids (2025).
